 DR Malika Virah-Sawmy - consultant

As a child, I dreamed of communicating with animals and trees. I worked for years as a park ranger in Mauritius, Seychelles, New Zealand, and Madagascar. After completing a PhD at Oxford on human-nature conflict, I worked globally as a sustainability practitioner, focusing on agriculture, climate adaptation, and resource management. Realizing that existing ways of thinking perpetuate control and separation, I founded Sensemakers Collective to serve life through deep listening to nature. Now, I serve as a facilitator, activist, storyteller, and community weaver, dedicated to nature connection, social justice, community living, and healing, using somatic and ancestral wisdom practices to nurture transformation.

Sasha Daucus - consultant

I have dedicated my life to supporting women as a midwife, doula, and healer through my work at Golden Light Center, blending traditional wisdom and holistic practices to promote individual and collective wellbeing. As a cofounder of the Diversity & Decolonising Circle within the Deep Adaptation movement, I focus on addressing systemic oppression in climate advocacy, emphasizing justice in environmental responses. My experience with the Ozark Area Community Congress and Ozark Vitality’s ‘My Ozarks’ series has helped me build bridges across diverse communities. I also facilitate Loretta J. Ross’s ‘Calling In’ training, fostering compassionate change. Through this work, I continue to explore how we can build movements that truly embody the justice and care we seek to create in the world.
